Before It Even Launches, People Are Feeling It

Monday, The Hallway of Doorknobs is officially in the world. Before it launches, I want to share something that made the whole journey worth it.

My cousin Melissa is a certified yoga therapist with over a decade of experience supporting her own healing journey and helping others do the same. When she read my book, she told me:

Disco, a sparkling disco ball character with arms, legs, and silver cowboy boots, winking and striking a confident pose against a purple starry background.

“I’ve been doing this work for a decade, and your children’s book taught me something new about my own Disco part.”

If a story written for six- to ten-year-olds can do that for someone who has spent years doing deep personal work, maybe that’s because all of us have parts worth meeting.

She wasn’t the only one who felt it. Here’s what a few other early readers had to say:

Erick, a reader who connected with the book’s playful approach: “Well-written and beautifully illustrated. Not just an excellent tool for helping children understand their emotions, but also a fun read!”

Lori, a behavior specialist who works with adults with intellectual disabilities and autism: “I can really see how helpful this could be for people who struggle to express emotions. I’m really looking forward to getting my own copy and using it in my work.”

Katy, who experienced parts work firsthand: She did this concept of Parts Therapy with me and I have never felt more at peace, happier, and as excited for the future as I do now after accepting and understanding all my parts.”

Angela, a parent excited to read it with her children: “The illustrations bring the words meaning and really showcase the message conveyed about feelings and acceptance.”

The Hallway of Doorknobs is available Monday at lynnahaller.com/books/the-hallway-of-doorknobs. If it resonates, please consider leaving a review. Every one helps this story reach more children and families who need it. That means everything to me.

Lynn A. Haller, MSW, LCSW, is a trauma-informed therapist, educator, and author based in rural Pennsylvania. With over 25 years of experience working with children, families, and adults navigating complex trauma, Lynn brings Internal Family Systems (IFS) concepts to life through story. The Hallway of Doorknobs is her first children's book, inviting young readers to meet their protective parts as characters they can understand and befriend. When she's not writing or in session, Lynn can be found at the theater, on a hiking trail, or moving through her daily workout—a practice she believes is essential to mental health. She lives with her daughter, a nursing student.
